Barnsley stayed in the hunt for the Sky Bet League One title, while Sunderland conceded a late goal to lose ground.

The Tykes scored three goals in 13 minutes at Plymouth to seal a 3-0 win that moves them two points behind leaders Luton and two points ahead of third-placed Portsmouth, although both rivals have played a game less.

Alex Mowatt's free kick added to goals from Cauley Woodrow and Jacob Brown with Barnsley effectively settling the contest inside 28 minutes.

Pompey are still hopeful themselves of ending their seven-year Sky Bet Championship exile after a 2-1 comeback win over Coventry.

Jordy Hiwula opened the scoring in the first half for Coventry before Tom Naylor levelled and Brett Pitman completed the turnaround.

Portsmouth travel to Sunderland on Saturday after the fourth-placed Black Cats were denied victory at Peterborough and lost ground on the top two.

Matt Godden's injury-time strike earned Posh a 1-1 draw after Max Power's late strike looked to have earned the visitors victory. Jack Ross' side are two points behind Portsmouth and four adrift of Barnsley.
