Barnsley 2-2 Reading

Barnsley had to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 draw with Reading.

The Reds are yet to confirm a play-off spot, whilst Reading have all-but ensured League One safety.

Sam Smith and Lewis Wing netted for the visitors, with Adam Phillips and Fabio Jalo providing equalisers.

The Royals opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Smith nodded home from Femi Azeez's corner.

Barnsley levelled in the 29th minute when John McAtee dinked a cross from the left for Phillips to head in for his 10th goal of the season.

Smith wasted a gilt-edged chance to give Reading the lead in the 69th minute when he rolled an effort wide inside the six yard box from Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan's cut back.

Ruben Selles' side regained the lead with nine minutes to play when Wing smashed one home from 25 yards out.

Barnsley responded well though and equalised two minutes later through 18-year-old Jalo, who headed beyond substitute goalkeeper David Button.

Jalo almost won it for the hosts two minutes later when he broke free inside the box, but his laced effort struck the left-hand post.

The improvement in the team over the last few months has been so great that today's result almost seems disappointing.

But in reality it's still a good away result against a promotion chasing side, with over 20 shots at goal.

That was a game that Reading should have won, but we'll take the draw. Happy days as Reading are looking very safe from relegation!

We are mathematically safe subject to any further points deduction as Port Vale can't catch us now and Burton play Cheltenham on Tuesday. If Burton win or its a draw then Cheltenham can't catch as they are would be 10 or 12 points behind with 9 to play for. If Cheltenham win the Burton can't catch us as they would be 7 points behind with 6 to play for.

I remember many games in the first half of the season where points were gifted by poor game management in the final 10 minutes or so. So the team and Ruben Selles deserve huge praise for grinding out some impressive results that has more or less preserved L1 status.

Good result for Reading but we are not safe yet. EFL might come with another unfair point deduction. I hope I am wrong but you are never sure since EFL will not leave Reading alone. Burton next Saturday would be massive so let's hope for a comfortable Reading win. Come on URZZZ!!!

Waylon has returned to the magnificent opulence of Mercy Manor after a fine day in't Barnsley. A marvellous result from one's Royals as Waylon expected a Barnsley win. Waylon was warmly welcomed back to Oakwell, people love Waylon.
