Bristol City interested in Everton midfielder- Currently on loan at Bolton Wanderers

Bristol City want to buy Everton midfielder Joe Williams, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Championship side Bolton Wanderers. He has played 19 games in all competitions for the Trotters this season.

Williams spent the last campaign on loan at Barnsley and played 38 times for the Tykes but couldn’t prevent them from relegation to League One. Nevertheless, he has racked up a decent number of games so far in his career.

The Liverpool-born midfielder joined his local side Everton at the age of seven and rose through the youth ranks at Goodison Park. He represented the Toffees at all youth levels but has never made a senior appearance for them.

A move to a Championship side permanently would be ideal for Williams now. It is unlikely that he will force his way into Everton’s starting eleven in the Premier League and he’s no longer considered a youngster at 22.

Bristol City are looking to bring in players who are young and have a point to prove. Williams would slot in nicely into their midfield under Lee Johnson and have a bright future ahead of him at Ashton Gate.

Everton selling him this month would be a blow for Bolton. The Trotters are struggling at the bottom of the second tier and Williams is a useful player for Phil Parkinson.
