Lambert: Bree Will Add Competition
Friday, 1st Feb 2019 13:17

Town manager Paul Lambert says new loan addition James Bree will add competition and knowledge of the Championship. The 21-year-old signed on loan for the rest of the season from Aston Villa yesterday.

Bree is the Blues’ sixth loanee, a situation Lambert has admitted is far from ideal, and something he has insisted he will try to avoid in future, but he says it’s something he will have to deal with over the remaining months of the season as he looks to see Town away from relegation danger.

“That is a situation I’ll have to manage but I’m delighted to have James with us,” he told the club website.

“He did really well at Barnsley before getting his move to Villa. It took a while for him to settle in there - that’s the way it often is for young players when they get a big move like that

“He has broken into their first team this season and done well. He knows the division well and he will add more competition at the back for us.”

Bree could make his Town debut in Saturday's home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile, former Town keeper Nick Hayes has joined Norwich City on a deal to the end of the season.

Ex-England U17 international Hayes, 19, was released by the Blues last summer having featured for the U23s but without ever breaking into the senior squad.

All we need now is a new keeper.

Peter Stilton?

Edam van Der Sar?

Feta Cech?

What happens to Knudsen now? He's still a Town player.

Lambert has already said its ready to play JK in the team since he's made it clear he sees his future elsewhere . “ it wouldn't be fair on the other players ( who are committed to the Club).
However he doesn't rule him out totally because he is under contract and is being paid by the club.

Knudsen has badly misjudged his stock and has made a bad call on his return from the World Vup, thinking genuinely that he could force a deal elsewhere. Problem was Vlubs never made a bid for him.

I think he needs to leave to kick start his career again. But from Towns perspective , far better Players have left this Club. He genuinely will ( is ) not be missed.

Sadly Jonas got his ‘A's' mixed up: Ability vs Ambition!

Clearly in all parties' interests that he moves on in the summer. Slightly sad ending, but that's football reality

Shame the window has now closed.....could have done with a couple of crackers to go with him! Not sure how to take your initial comment Northstandveteran, do you think we need a keeper or was it just an opening for a cheese pun?!

So as he is only on loan does his current club refer to him as Nacho cheese

I have given up wondering what we need?

Although a new keeper would be a start.

Perhaps four defenders, four midfielders and a couple of decent strikers wouldn't go miss either?

What we need is confidence and how do we get that? I really do believe we now have a decent squad, albeit full of loans. I suppose my point is northstandveteran Bart was the best keeper in the championship and would have given many in the prem a good run too. Then for whatever reason went hero to zero. PH, confidence or something else? Answer on a postcard!
