Former Leeds United boss Heckingbottom to be named Hibs boss on Thursday

Former Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom is set to finally be unveiled as the new manager of Ladbrokes Premiership club Hibernian on Thursday according to reports by the Edinburgh Evening News.

The 41-year-old South Yorkshireman emerged as Hibs’ number one candidate for their vacancy after talks with rumoured target Michael Appleton reportedly stalled earlier this week.

That breakdown between Hibernian and Appleton paved the way for former Barnsley and Leeds United boss Heckingbottom to jump into the Easter Road hotseat and he is expected to be named the club’s new manager tomorrow after discussing some final terms to his deal earlier today.

Heckingbottom will replace former Hibs boss Neil Lennon in Leith with the Northern Irishman having mutually agreed to leave his position a couple of weeks ago following a well-documented behind the scenes disagreement.

During his time at former club Leeds United, Heckingbottom won just four of his 16 matches in charge before being sacked by The Whites in June. He has been without a job since his dismissal but now looks set to continue his managerial career in Scotland with Hibs.

Should Heckingbottom be unveiled at Easter Road as expected tomorrow, he could take charge of the club for the first time on Saturday when they host struggling Hamilton Academical in the Ladbrokes Premiership, a match which he will be expected to win.
