Owls and Hoops battling it out for 19 goal striker

Sheffield Wednesday and QPR are both in battle to sign MK Dons striker Chuks Aneke.

TEAMtalk are reporting that both sides are very interested in bringing the striker to their club and to play at Championship level. A level where Aneke has never played. However, it is not just Wednesday and QPR that are interested in his services.

Barnsley, Wigan and Hull are also thought to have keen interest in Aneke while Portsmouth are also reported to be interested but that move would seem very unlikely with MK Dons now also a League One club.

QPR have lost striking options this summer with both Nahki Wells and Tomer Hemed returning to their parent clubs after season long loan spells with Rangers. There is also doubts over the future of Matt Smith who has been linked with a move away from the club. So a move to Loftus Road would seem the perfect fit for Aneke who started his career in London with Arsenal.

Sheffield Wednesday are also interested and are looking for a replacement for Gary Hooper who they released at end of last season. They do however still have three other strikers on their books and Aneke would be battling with them for a place in the starting 11.

Wigan is another option, they found goals hard to come by last season and would welcome more firepower to their side to help them avoid another relegation battle. Barnsley won promotion from League One last season and need to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the second tier.
