Marcel Desailly believes that Kylian Mbappe could be playing his football in Saudi Arabia next season rather than in Madrid.

The French superstar will be one of the most talked about stars in the world this summer when his Paris Saint-Germain contract comes to an end, meaning that he is free to join any club of his choosing.

Mbappe will have been hoping to claim Champions League glory in his final season at the club, however, a defeat to Borussia Dortmund means that this dream won't come to fruition before he moves on.

The forward is expected to join Real Madrid this summer - a side who are one match away from meeting Dortmund in the Champions League final - but according to Desailly, Mbappe could yet choose to complete a move to Saudi instead.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Desailly said: "I’ve said it already, I would move to a different continent. For him, I’m not sure Madrid is the perfect place for him to be.

“We have Vinicius on the left side, a player showing the quality like Bellingham so he’s not going to be the full number one that he wants.

“He’s not announcing where he’s going and even though he wants to keep it and announce it like a star there must be something behind it, a surprise.

“If you think about the business of football, for £350million I would go to Saudi for a year, then come back next season – the year of the World Cup – aged 26 and a half, cash out and play football because what does Mbappe want? He wants to play football.”

Asked about his prediction of Mbappe moving to Saudi Arabia, Desailly added: “This is what I feel and what I think as a businessman and looking at the business side of things.

“It’s still competitive in Saudi... broadcasters are coming in to show the matches around the world.

“They are doing what Qatar did in 2004 or 2005 and I went there to promote and expose the country.

“It is a business on both sides and I do believe that this could be an opportunity for him to make more business and play more football after the Euros.”

Mbappe has previous when it comes to snubbing what appeared to be an inevitable move to the Bernabeu having surprisingly deciding to sign a new contract with PSG at the 11th hour two summers ago.

Whatever Mbappe decides to do next, fellow World Cup winner with France Thierry Henry believes the 25-year-old will go down as PSG's greatest ever player.

Henry told CBS Sports: "We all know he was leaving. He was magnificent for Paris Saint-Germain.

"It's not an easy one, that's your last game in Europe for Paris Saint-Germain but he can leave this club with his head held high. It's not everyone that can win everywhere and especially the Champions League. Only Real Madrid win it at will.

"But the big man played really well at Paris Saint-Germain throughout his whole career there. I'm not going to judge him on not winning the Champions League with Paris.

When asked if he feels Mbappe is PSG's greatest ever player, Henry said: "It's not even a discussion, he's no.1.

"With the impact he had all over the world, what he's been doing, for me yes, he will go down as the best player to ever play for Paris Saint-Germain."
